Content and data

Sources stay attached to their rights.

Open source code does not make every publication, dataset, logo or piece of third-party material open for unrestricted reuse. This notice separates the project’s work from its sources.

Project software

Original application and research code in the project repository is available under the repository’s MIT licence. That licence applies to software identified as part of the project; it does not override a third party’s licence, database terms, trade marks or copyright.

Editorial content and derived evidence

Unless a page or file says otherwise, copyright in original openaus.org explanatory text, selection, arrangement and project-produced derived outputs is held by the site operator, publishing as Velvet Squid. All rights are reserved while a separate public content/data licence is assessed.

Downloadable evidence files are project-produced extracts, calculations, reconciliations or validation records. They are not presented as copies of the publishers’ complete original works. Each record should retain its source URL, period, scope and any known licence or attribution requirement.

Third-party material

Underlying facts and third-party publications remain attributable to their publishers and subject to their own terms. Commonwealth, state and territory coats of arms, agency logos, business marks and third-party images are not licensed by this project. Public availability does not by itself grant permission to republish material.

Where reuse terms are unclear, openaus.org links to the original instead of presenting a local copy as reusable. If you believe a downloadable item exceeds its permitted use, use the correction process.

External links and reliance

External links are supplied for checking and context. They do not imply partnership or endorsement, and their content can change. Dated local explanations may therefore differ from a publisher’s later revision.

Information is general and may be incomplete. It is not legal, financial, medical, investment or other professional advice.
